About Us

If you've ever visited Fredericksburg, even just for a few hours, you know that it is a special place. Growing up here I didn't really understand or appreciate the many opportunities, life lessons, and connections that are woven into the fabric of life of this town. It only took a few years away from my hometown, for me to realize the treasures of life in a small town ~ its the people, the places, and the unique experiences.

Started in 1977 by the Hallford Family as a peach stand, The Peach Basket, has been a stable for unique finds for nearly 50 years. What started out as a humble peach stand became Fredericksburg’s first, and for several years, only health food store. Over the years, Fredericksburg and The Peach Basket have evolved. While The PB may no longer be a full time farm stand or health food store, the entrepreneurial spirit still remains.

My intention is to bring to life a mindful retail experience centered around creating connections, by sharing stories about the people and places that make artisanal wares unique. Gifting is my love language. It brings joy to my heart to be a part of selecting treasures for milestone moments ~ birthdays, anniversaries, and new babies as well as the “just because” days. The Peach Basket once again offers a curated selection of everyday essentials for intentional living such as my family’s favorite snacks, the clean bath, body, beauty and home products I can’t live without, and professionally vetted health & wellness supplements (coming soon!). I firmly believe that by shopping at small, local retailers we are investing in the health of our community.

New to The Peach Basket property, Blossom Yoga offers yoga and movement classes for all. This passion project is born out of the healing impact that yoga has made on my life.

I hope that y’all will pop by the next time you're out and about doing some shopping or just to say hi. Chances are you’ll find me, my daughters, and maybe even some of our friends doing all the small business things. It’s never to early to start nurturing community and connections for our next generation of entrepreneurs. Think big and shop small y’all!

Joyfully,

Evelyn Washburne
